Grown on the volcanic slopes of Mount Leuser near Padang in the Batak region of Aceh, Sumatra Mandheling coffee thrives in one of the world’s most ancient and biodiverse ecosystems. Named in honor of the Mandailing people, this rich, full-bodied coffee reflects the deep cultural and natural heritage of its origin.
Indonesia’s coffees are celebrated for their distinctive cup profile. With low acidity, creamy body, and complex flavors ranging from chocolate and red fruit to earthy herbs, umami, and sweet tobacco. This unique character comes from Indonesia’s traditional wet-hulled processing method, known locally as giling basah.
